Eglė Žemaitė's Mural Wraps Vilnius Building in Folklore-Inspired Ribbon

Eglė Žemaitė, a Lithuanian artist, has finished a significant mural named "Laumės juosta" on a grey residential structure in Vilnius. This artwork gives the impression of a vibrant woven ribbon cascading over the building's exterior, drawing inspiration from Lithuanian folklore's rainbow and traditional weaving designs. The mural symbolizes warmth, hospitality, and connection, resembling items like a sash, scarf, or tablecloth. The artist notes that this work fosters a connection between art and architecture, as well as between individuals and the city, transforming a mundane building into a wellspring of beauty and inspiration. This project was chosen for realization under the "Kuriu Vilnių" 2025 initiative.
