Edward Hopper's Solitude Explored in Pisa Exhibition

An extensive exhibition focused on Edward Hopper is set to commence at Palazzo Blu in Pisa on October 14, lasting until March 7, 2027. This showcase will present more than 150 pieces, such as oil paintings, watercolors, etchings, and previously unpublished archival materials from the Whitney Museum. Born in the late 1800s, Hopper was inspired by Impressionists during his time in Paris from 1906 to 1910. He found fame in his fifties while consistently portraying themes of American solitude. Notable works include 'House by the Railroad' (1925), 'Nighthawks' (1942), and 'Two Comedians' (1965). His wife, Josephine Nivison Hopper, modeled for 'Nighthawks' and maintained meticulous diaries. Hopper famously remarked, 'If I could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint,' emphasizing his commitment to visual artistry.
