Edward E. Boccia Retrospective Opens at Philip Slein Gallery, Coincides with First Major Monograph
From October 23, 2026, to December 19, 2026, the Philip Slein Gallery in St. Louis will host "Edward E. Boccia: An American Modernist." This exhibition will showcase more than 30 of Boccia's artworks, including some that have never been displayed before, as well as his renowned multi-panel pieces. It traces his artistic journey from the expressionism of the 1950s to his later symbolic works, featuring notable pieces such as "Recollections of a Sea Gull" (1957) and "Young Adam and Eve" (2006). This event aligns with the release of "Edward E. Boccia: Painter of Nightmares and Dreams," published by Hirmer Publishers. Boccia (1921–2012) was a professor at Washington University in St. Louis and has works in over 600 collections globally. Curator Rosa Berland highlights the exhibition's importance.
