exhibition · 2026-10-15

Edith Dekyndt, who hails from Ypres, Belgium, and was born in 1960, is showcasing "The Fabric Decides" at Bozar in Brussels until January 31. This exhibition includes her creations alongside those of renowned designer Cristóbal Balenciaga, reflecting his insights on fabric. In her Forest, Belgium studio, Dekyndt delves into concepts of decay and restoration. Significant pieces include a silver-leaf fabric that undergoes oxidation and "Organ" (2021), a felt artwork impacted by moths. At the Biennale de Lyon, Helya Soltan Parast will perform by cutting and sewing pomegranates. A viral video by Dekyndt, which pays tribute to Édouard Glissant, resonated during Iranian protests. Future works will be presented in Brussels, Lyon, or New York, with events at various galleries running until March 2024.
