DuckUnit: Bangkok Studio Blends Concert Design and Contemporary Art
DuckUnit, a design studio based in Bangkok and established in 2005 by Wit Pimkanchanapong, is currently under the leadership of Rueangrith Suntisuk and Pornpan Arayaveerasid. The studio combines elements of concert staging with modern art. Their latest work, 'A Flower of Forgetfulness,' was showcased at Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, created in collaboration with filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul and sound engineers Akritchalerm Kalayanamitr and Koichi Shimizu. This installation incorporated video, sound, light, and mechanical movement within an old chapel. Suntisuk elaborated on their approach, which includes cohesive narratives for concerts, such as FLURE LIFE, and engaging the audience in art. Future endeavors include 'Love after Death' for the 2025 Taipei Biennial and 'The Ring of Fire' in 2024.
