Draga & Aurel unveil Lava table series exploring resin and concrete contrast
The Lava table family is the latest addition to the Transparency Matters collection by design duo Draga & Aurel. Each table features a cylindrical top made from thick epoxy resin, polished to a brilliant, reflective finish that captures and amplifies light, creating shifting chromatic vibrations. The top rests on a conical concrete base with a raw, textured surface achieved through erosion by sea salt, introducing a tactile, earthy contrast. The piece embodies the duo's ongoing dialogue between translucent resin and dense concrete, continuing explorations from earlier projects Golia, Cala, and Cava. Every table is handcrafted in their atelier in Como, Italy, where they also develop their creative restoration practice for the Heritage collection, transforming vintage furniture into unique pieces. The design is featured in issue 89 of Glocal Design Magazine, titled "Visionarias del espacio," which profiles 15 women architects and interior designers in Mexico. The issue has two collector covers by Prince Láuder and Jimena Estíbaliz.
