Douglas Gordon's Zidane Film to Screen at Gagosian Beverly Hills

Next month, Gagosian Beverly Hills will unveil an exhibition featuring the works of Scottish artist Douglas Gordon, highlighting his iconic double-screen film "Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait" (2006). Entitled "Magic is sometimes very close to nothing at all," this exhibition aligns with the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with several matches set for Los Angeles. The film, created alongside French artist Philippe Parreno, documents the legendary French footballer Zinédine Zidane in real time during a match between Real Madrid and Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on April 23, 2005. Utilizing 17 cameras, it incorporates commentary and crowd sounds from 72,000 fans, accompanied by a soundtrack from the Scottish band Mogwai.
