Dorothy Iannone's 'The Berlin Beauties' Debuts in Full at Berlin's Gemäldegalerie
The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin's Kupferstichkabinett is showcasing "Dorothy Iannone: The Berlin Beauties," which runs until September 13, 2026, at the Gemäldegalerie. This cabinet exhibition marks the first comprehensive display of Iannone's complete series, The Berlin Beauties (1977–78), from the Kupferstichkabinett's collection. Additionally, the exhibition features a new drawing project and a performance by Galician artist Alejandra Pombo Su, created specifically for this event. Both Iannone and Pombo Su explore themes of corporeality, intimacy, vulnerability, and strength, bridging generational gaps through their works in drawing, performance, poetry, and the politics surrounding the body.
