Dorothea Lange's Crisis Chronicles at Verona's Scavi Scaligeri
From July 30 to November 1, 2026, the Centro Internacional de Fotografía Scavi Scaligeri in Verona will present an exhibition dedicated to Dorothea Lange. This event, organized by the comune of Verona and produced by CAMERA Turin, is curated by Walter Guadagnini and Monica Poggi. It showcases nearly 200 pieces from Lange's extensive career, including her renowned photograph 'Migrant Mother.' The exhibition explores themes such as migration, social inequality, discrimination, and drought, illustrating urban unemployment, strikes, and the plight of displaced farming families. Lange, who joined the Farm Security Administration in 1935, also documented the internment of over 110,000 Japanese Americans, emphasizing the loss of liberty. Works are provided by the Library of Congress and the New York Public Library.
