Donatella Landi’s ‘Pensieri di Terra’ at Fondazione Baruchello

Fondazione Baruchello in Rome presents ‘Pensieri di Terra’, a solo exhibition by Italian artist Donatella Landi, curated by Carla Subrizi. The show runs from May 20 to August 2, 2026, as part of the foundation’s ‘Terra come Storia’ project. The exhibition features a non-linear, circular layout that interweaves Landi’s works across media—video, photography, sculpture, sound, and text—spanning from the 1990s to 2025. Key works include the film ‘Wacht am Rhein’ (2013–2021), which subverts the German patriotic song by depicting the Rhine as a peaceful waterway, and the ongoing series ‘Sei in un Paese Meraviglioso’ (2020), a photo-archive of Italian political massacres printed on porcelain tombstone plaques. Landi’s small-scale sculptures, such as ‘Eravamo umidi, una volta’ (2003) and the recent ‘Satiri’ (2025), are described as ‘pre-forms’ that resist monumentality. The exhibition also includes an audio archive and a final sculpture titled ‘Estasi’, which embodies transformation. A roundtable discussion on memory and politics accompanied the opening.
