Dive bar in Marylebone offers Prince-inspired cocktail and velvet-clad interiors
A new establishment named Dive has quietly opened in a basement in Marylebone, providing an alternative to London's overly stylized nightlife. Owner Antoine Le Dirat-Giacometti, a French DJ, teamed up with architect Ariel André from the Parisian studio Golem to design an interior described as a 'concrete block in a velvet glove.' Following a fire in 2025 at the nearby Chiltern Firehouse, the basement's raw concrete shell was revealed mid-construction, while André preserved the vaulted arches that were damaged. Dive features unique elements such as a sound shower by Berlin’s Basil Martion, quarter-circle tables for couples, a non-gendered bathroom with a one-way mirror, and a hydraulic DJ booth. The cocktail offerings include the 10:58, inspired by Prince's 'Purple Music,' and the Dive Hydrator, initially created for marathon runners. French-sourced croque-monsieurs are available as bar snacks. The name 'Dive' reflects the descent into the venue.
