Diljit Dosanjh Becomes First Punjabi Singer to Headline Wembley Stadium

On Saturday night, Diljit Dosanjh made a milestone achievement by being the first Punjabi performer at Wembley Stadium, as the venue confirmed. He kicked off the night with "Punjabi Aa Gaye Wembley Oye!" and remarked that this occasion would be remembered forever. The concert was filled with lively Bhangra beats and hit songs like G.O.A.T. and Lover, featuring dance numbers for Hass Hass and Born to Shine. The audience, mostly South Asian, lit up the venue and sang along, with one fan comparing him to legends like Michael Jackson and Madonna. Dosanjh took selfies with fans on stage, acknowledged the 90,000-capacity crowd, and announced a concert at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium in November. The night ended with Main Hoon Punjabi and fireworks. Backstage, he told the BBC that performing at Wembley felt like a dream, especially coming from a village, and highlighted the significance of the achievement for him compared to artists like Harry Styles. Beyond music, he has collaborated with Ed Sheeran and Sia and has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, making history as the first Punjabi-language artist at Coachella in 2023. He's also a Bollywood actor and an influencer on social media.
