Digital Artist Reimagines Picasso's Works in 3D Using Cinema 4D Software
On October 28, 2019, artist Omar Aqil unveiled the third installment of his MIMIC series, which transforms Pablo Picasso's paintings into three-dimensional digital artworks. Aqil selected six pieces by Picasso and reinterpreted them using Maxon Cinema 4D and Otoy Octane rendering software. The Pakistani artist, who works as an art director and CGI illustrator at CR Studio in Lahore, explained that his goal was to investigate the complexity and abstract qualities of Picasso's forms. Aqil shared his creative process on Behance, noting that he gained significant insight from studying Picasso's original compositions. This project follows two earlier phases of the MIMIC series, which also focused on translating two-dimensional art into 3D formats. Aqil's broader portfolio includes additional digital projects such as character design, typography, and abstract Cubist-inspired compositions. The reinterpretations offer a fresh perspective on Picasso's iconic visual language through contemporary digital techniques.
