Diego Arribas 'El peso de la luz' at Espacio Pirineos, Graus

Diego Arribas presents 'El peso de la luz' at Espacio Pirineos in Graus, Huesca, from September 3 to October 3, 2026. The exhibition features works in stone, mineral, iron, and gold, exploring geological time, material transformation, and human transience. Materials like slate, volcanic rock, alabaster, and iron are intervened with gold dust, not to dazzle but to highlight their intrinsic qualities. The contrast between geological timescales and human existence is central; iron pieces oxidize over time, incorporating decay into the artwork. The materials carry territorial memory, and Arribas's interventions emphasize rather than obscure this. The show invites contemplative viewing, positioning the Earth as a dynamic entity of which we are part. Arribas holds a doctorate in Fine Arts from the Universitat Politècnica de València and has been a professor and vice-dean at the University of Zaragoza, as well as director of the Museo Salvador Victoria. He has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1990, including at the Bienal de Arte en la Naturaleza in Abtsgmünd, Germany, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Mérida in Mexico, the Colegio de España in Paris, and Galería Edurne in Madrid. His work is in public and private collections. From 2000 to 2007, he developed the Land Art project 'Arte, industria y territorio' in the Sierra Menera mines, which became his doctoral thesis.
