Designers Ela Villarreal and Andy McCune Stage a Cinematic Mexico City Wedding at Casa Seminario 12

other · 2026-10-20

Designers Ela Villarreal and Andy McCune married on August 1, 2026, at Casa Seminario 12 in Mexico City, a 17th-century house near the Templo Mayor built over a temple to Tezcatlipoca. The couple, who met on Raya on November 11, 2023, at a Montreal bar called Baby, treated the weekend as a collaborative creative project, with Ela designing the monogram and paper goods and Andy building an interactive wedding website. Planner Rodrigo Mora coordinated, with botanical installations by Humorum Studios. A welcome party at Botánico in Condesa featured mezcalitas, tuna tostadas, live guitar by Páramo, and a mariachi band. Ela wore a spring 2008 archival Valentino found by Nikki Reynen of Raffe Vintage, then an Elie Saab ball gown, an Alexandra Grecco slip dress with the brand's Sugar Coat, and a beaded Annie's Ibiza mini; Andy chose Bode, The Row, Zegna, Givenchy, and Dries Van Noten. Andy's father, a Christian minister, officiated, and poet Alexcia Panay composed a three-page poem on her typewriter from guests' blessings. A summer storm sent guests barefoot to shuttles. At General Prim, moss and hanging vines evoked nature reclaiming the space, a 14-piece orchestra serenaded dinner, and the first dance to the Paper Kites' 'Without Your Love' ended with drapery parting to reveal a hidden bar and nightclub lit by Erick Estrada, with Nick Morgan DJing until sunrise. Photographs are by Camila Urrea.
