Designer Peter Dunham Transforms Historic Aspen Barn into Family Retreat

Peter Dunham, an interior designer, partnered with Lesley Slatkin, the proprietor of Shutters on the Beach and Hotel Casa Del Mar, to renovate a historic farmhouse from the 1840s in Aspen into a charming alpine residence. This property, one of the largest remaining ranches in the area, includes the original farmhouse and old stables, which inspired a design rooted in 19th-century agricultural architecture. The barn-style layout features an open kitchen and living room, perfect for family gatherings and Shabbat dinners. A standout element is the kitchen island crafted from two matching shop counters from the 1830s, utilizing architectural salvage.
