Desenfocado Exhibition at CaixaForum Barcelona Explores Blur in Art

CaixaForum Barcelona presents 'Desenfocado. Otra visión del arte', an exhibition examining blur as an aesthetic choice and interpretive key in modern and contemporary art. Organized with the Musée de l’Orangerie and Musée d’Orsay in Paris, curated by Claire Bernardi and Emilia Philippot, the show features 77 works by 58 artists. It begins with Monet's Nymphéas and includes pieces by J.M.W. Turner, Gerhard Richter, Odilon Redon, and Hervé Guibert. The exhibition is structured into five thematic sections: 'Preámbulo', 'En las fronteras de lo visible', 'La erosión de las certezas', 'Elogio de la indefinición', and 'Futuros inciertos'. Artists such as Mark Rothko, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Alfredo Jaar, Christian Boltanski, Pipilotti Rist, Nan Goldin, and Maarten Baas are featured. A mediation space titled 'Re-ver. Mirar el cielo con ojos diversos' allows visitors to lie down and observe an AI-generated sky through vision-distorting glasses. The exhibition runs until September 27 and previously traveled to Paris and Madrid.
