Dennis Vanderbroeck Stages Diesel and Miu Miu Runways Around Collective Experience

architecture-design · 2026-10-18

During the fashion weeks in Milan and Paris, Dutch spatial designer Dennis Vanderbroeck crafted two distinct runway settings. His final project with Glenn Martens for Diesel featured a rigid scaffolding that allowed performers to engage with models, emphasizing the tension between individuality and collectivity. At Palais d'Iéna for Miu Miu's Spring/Summer 2027 show, Vanderbroeck created a narrow catwalk and bleachers that evoked the 1990s runway style, incorporating tracks for modular seating to introduce movement. This design precedes Alice Diop's exhibition Geste de Consolation at Art Basel Paris, scheduled for October 21 to 25, 2026. Vanderbroeck, who has a theater background, views set design as a means to create immersive experiences, having also worked on Issey Miyake's OPEN STUDIO at Tate Modern and collaborated with Rosalía for the Lux Tour.
