Decus Moves Into a Historic Woollahra Terrace, Turning It Into a Design Laboratory
Alexandra Donohoe Church, an Australian interior designer, has moved her firm, Decus, which she established in 2009, to a historic terrace on Queen Street in Woollahra, Sydney, just ten doors away from its former site. The new studio, finalized earlier this year, accommodates a workforce that has grown from seven to 14 over the past nine years. A graduate in landscape architecture from the University of New South Wales, Donohoe Church refers to the studio as a laboratory. Notable features include a chartreuse foyer with a bespoke Loro Piana banquette, a central staircase adorned with contrasting marble tiles, and artworks by Imi Knoebel and George Tjungurrayi. The space also highlights Decus's inaugural chair, custom furnishings, and partnerships with local artisans, with more updates anticipated.
