De la Torre Brothers' Collidoscope and Psychopomp Exhibitions

Einar and Jamex de la Torre have two concurrent U.S. exhibitions: 'Collidoscope: de la Torre Brothers Retro-Perspective' at the Wichita Art Museum (May 30–September 6, 2026) and 'Psychopomp' at Ruiz-Healy Art in New York (May 12–August 14, 2026). The retrospective surveys over thirty years of their collaborative practice, which blends blown glass, resin, found objects, and iconography from Aztec, Catholic, Chicano, and pop cultures. 'Psychopomp' presents new works that distill themes of migration, ecology, and cultural collision. The brothers, born in Guadalajara and raised in Southern California, resist fixed categories like 'Chicano artist' or 'glass artist.' Their sculptures embrace excess and contradiction, using materials such as glass, resin, lenticular prints, and plastic toys. 'Collidoscope' is curated by Selene Preciado and organized by the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Latino and The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture. It has traveled to eight venues since 2022, including the Corning Museum of Glass and the Crocker Art Museum.
