De()composing: 14 Artists Explore Extraction and Regeneration in Hout Bay

The exhibition De()composing: Between Extraction and Regeneration, which marks the conclusion of the New Futures Arts Collaborative residency organized by ART AFRICA, will open on 4 August 2026 at 31 Harbour Road, Hout Bay, Cape Town. Curated by Isadora Canela with support from Juji, the show showcases the work of 14 artists hailing from Brazil, Pakistan, Ghana, Cameroon, Germany, Egypt, and South Africa. The residency featured a five-week program in Cape Town that delved into cultural and environmental histories. The exhibition investigates decomposition as a transitional state, inspired by mycelial ecologies. Participating artists, including Marcus Deusdedit, Mudasir Chandio, and Tetteh Narh Martin, focus on themes of architecture, urban change, and minority heritage. This initiative is developed in collaboration with Initiatives of Change USA and Collective WEBS.
