David Thorpe's Zero-Budget Film Project at Les Bains-Douches

David Thorpe, a UK native born in 1972, moved to Treignac, France in 2023 to work with Treignac Projet. His exhibition at Les Bains-Douches in Alençon is part of a groundbreaking zero-budget film initiative focused on collaboration and collective production. Thorpe's artistic endeavors encompass drawing, collage, sculpture, and installation, creating utopian environments where building and dismantling coexist. He is represented by Casey Kaplan in New York and collaborates with Maureen Paley in London, Meyer Riegger in Berlin, and Pedro Cera in Lisbon. His significant solo shows include Tate Britain and Camden Arts Centre, while his group exhibitions feature venues like MoMA and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. He earned an MA from Goldsmiths, University of London.
