David Popa Unveils Land-Art Project "Rebirth" in Norwegian Mountains
David Popa has unveiled a sneak peek of his new land-art project called Rebirth, which he created in Norway's mountains. The artwork features two chalk and charcoal drawings on light earth next to striking blue water: one of a curled human figure and another of a winged creature. As the water rose, it partially submerged the figure, leaving it visible beneath the surface. The film accompanying the project contrasts intimate shots of Popa working with sweeping aerial views that showcase the artwork's scale. This autumn, Popa returned to nature after focusing on his March project, Renewal. He aimed to explore themes of surrender and renewal, and the water’s rise unexpectedly realized a vision he had long held.
