David Macias's Threshold House Wins Colombian Architecture Award

Threshold House (Casa Umbral), designed by David Macias, has clinched the top honor in the single-family housing category at the Regional Salons of Architecture and Urbanism, an event hosted by the Colombian Society of Architects. This 850 m² home, finalized in 2025, is situated within Colombia's lush, humid tropical landscape. The design innovatively transforms architectural access into an experiential ritual rather than simply a doorway, adapting to a setting where nature, rather than urban infrastructure, establishes boundaries. The project team comprises project manager German Ardila, structural engineer Lucia Rojas, and environmental sustainability consultant John Saavedra, with photography by Daniel Segura.
