DATALAND Names Inaugural AI Artist Residency Cohort with Google Arts & Culture

DATALAND, the world's first Museum of AI Arts, has selected four artists from over 500 applicants for its inaugural AI Artist Residency, a six-month program developed with Google Arts & Culture. The cohort includes Maya Man, Lucia Rebolino, Penny Slinger, and Jess Starns, each receiving $25,000 in project funding, mentorship from Refik Anadol Studio, and access to DATALAND's Large Nature Model. The residency runs until December 2026, with resulting works premiering in a public exhibition featuring immersive installations and talks. The selection panel includes Hans Ulrich Obrist, Paola Antonelli, Nora N. Khan, Gabriel Kozlowski, and Google Arts & Culture representatives. Located at Frank Gehry's The Grand LA, DATALAND opened in June 2026 and currently hosts the exhibition Machine Dreams: Rainforest through January 2027.
