Dashcam Footage Shows Bison Charging Pickup Truck at Night in Yellowstone

other · 2026-10-19

At around 2:45 A.M. on October 8, a Ford Ranger was struck by a charging bison on a road within Yellowstone National Park. The incident was captured on dashcam and later posted on Facebook by Stephen Borgmier, who manages the Fishing Bridge service station. Kyle Weber, the seasonal mechanic driving the truck, encountered the bison near Mud Volcano. After he applied the brakes, the bison collided with the vehicle, causing damage to the bumper and hood. Weber spotted the same bison later but opted not to reverse, concerned it might provoke the animal. The National Park Service recommends maintaining a distance of at least 25 yards from bison. In July, Carl Isom-McDaniel, 65, was injured by a bull while taking a photograph; fortunately, the child with him was unharmed.
