Dariia Maiier and Sofiia Yesakova Examine Violence and Ceremony in Berlin
ROAM projects e.V. in Berlin is currently showcasing "The Solemnity of the Repulsive," featuring artists Dariia Maiier and Sofiia Yesakova, through August 27, 2026. This exhibition investigates the transformation of violence into rituals across various artistic mediums. Maiier presents her video work titled "Zadorny" (2024), incorporating archival footage and a fictional pedigree card for a horse, as well as her sculpture "Double Bridle," which addresses equine suffering. Yesakova exhibits charred wood reliefs from her "Ugly Scenes" series, alongside a wall-mounted funeral ribbon from "Nuances" (2025). Both artists trained under Mykola Storozhenko at Kyiv's National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture.
