Dans Arhitekti Renovates 1957 Cooperative Houses in Ljubljana

Dans arhitekti has completed the renovation of two terraced houses within the 'Progres - Mirje' housing cooperative in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Originally designed by Marko Šlajmer and colleagues in 1957, the houses were among the first cooperative housing developments, reflecting the optimism of a generation of young architects. The 340 m² project, completed in 2022, addresses the original layout's small rooms and limited natural light, contrasting with today's preference for open, bright spaces. The renovation was curated by Nina Vuga, with photographs by Miran Kambic. The ensemble is noted for its rational construction, efficient space use, and innovative spatial concept.
