Daniel Muñoz's 'Ruinas en Boga' Opens at Galería A Ciegas, Madrid

The Galería de Arte A Ciegas in Madrid inaugurates its artistic season with 'Ruinas en Boga', a solo exhibition by Spanish artist Daniel Muñoz, curated by Omar-Pascual Castillo. The show runs from September 11 to November 6, 2026. Muñoz, an Extremaduran nomad with an international career, centers his practice on drawing as a means of reconstructing narratives through in-situ micro-essays. The exhibition stems from an encounter during an artistic residency at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, founded in the 1970s by minimalist master Donald Judd. In an abandoned military barracks on the Marfa plains, Muñoz discovered an official U.S. Army ledger from the interwar period. This found object serves as the conceptual core of the exhibition. Castillo's curatorial text questions whether art can distort notions of reality, noting that contemporary artists often reinterpret historical objects, offering alternative histories through materiality. Muñoz describes the ledger as a 'tool' and 'treasure' that they intend to analyze, experiment with, and ultimately subvert—altering its nature, misusing it, and dismantling its original logic. The exhibition promises to explore themes of history, materiality, and reinterpretation.
