Daniel Humm Opens New Manhattan Restaurant with Ceiling Fresco by Francesco Clemente
On October 10, Chef Daniel Humm will debut his first independent restaurant, Humm, located at 435 Hudson Street in New York, occupying the former EN Japanese Brasserie site. Spanning 5,000 square feet, the venue showcases a 1,200 square foot fresco by Italian artist Francesco Clemente, featuring themes of stars, animals, trains, and clocks. Humm and Clemente previously collaborated on murals at Eleven Madison Park. The interiors, designed by Pierre Yovanovitch, draw inspiration from both Clemente's artwork and the essence of Manhattan, including a bar, lounge, and an open kitchen dining area. The space also features geometric furniture, a red sculpture by Rashid Johnson, and pieces by Louise Bourgeois and Roni Horn. Menu highlights include charcoal-grilled fish and roast chicken for two, which Humm describes as 'a labour of love.'
