Dan Flavin's European Couples Series Assembled at Gagosian Le Bourget

exhibition · 2026-10-09

From October 18, 2026, to April 3, 2027, Gagosian Le Bourget in France will present all nine pieces from Dan Flavin's European Couples series for the first time. Each square, measuring 244 centimeters on each side, honors different couples, such as Bruno Bischofberger and Christina (yellow) and Heiner Friedrich with Thordis Moeller (soft white). The series includes a spectrum of colors: yellow, pink, red, blue, green, and four variations of white. Five of the works come from Flavin's estate, while four are part of Friedrich's collection, which was previously shown at DASMAXIMUM before its closure in 2024. The installation, located in a building redesigned by Jean Nouvel, enhances the play of light. Flavin's work will also be on display at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
