Daito Manabe Debuts Overseas Solo Show at Taichung Art Museum
Daito Manabe, a prominent media artist from Japan, has just launched his first solo exhibition outside his home country, called RELATIONAL TIME—Life Beyond Simulation, at Taichung Art Museum (TcAM). This show features brand-new pieces created specifically for TcAM and employs top-notch sound systems imported from Japan to enhance the experience. Manabe is famous for his tech innovations during the Tokyo Handover Ceremony at the Rio 2016 Olympics and for working with famous artists like Ryuichi Sakamoto and Björk. Curated by Joel Kwong from Hong Kong’s Microwave International New Media Arts Festival, this exhibition explores the paradox of machines rapidly simulating futures while humans require time to build trust and memory. It's a significant step for Manabe in Taiwan, reaching a new audience with his artistic vision. The exhibition is currently ongoing at TcAM.
