Curious House in Zagreb: FORVM Arhitektura's Three-Part Composition

The Curious House, a private residence in Zagreb, Croatia, has been completed by the local architecture studio FORVM, led by Dinko Uglesic, Ina Vlahovic, and Marijana Rancic. The two-storey house is set on a sloping plot, set back from the main road, and is arranged as three distinct components: a mirrored box, a metal-clad studio, and a cantilevered bedroom wing. The mirrored box contains a glazed ground floor that opens onto a terrace and a lap pool, with the primary entrance leading to a linear kitchen, dining, and seating area. The angled studio box, with its mono-pitched roof, houses a kitchen, bathroom, and a raised bed with views over the city. The bedroom wing includes two en-suite bedrooms and a study, connected by an external pathway across the flat roof. The juxtaposition of these elements creates a series of pathways, unique views, and public and private areas, while concealing the house's generous 400 square metre size. The design reflects the surrounding landscape, with the mirrored facade amplifying the plants and trees. The project was featured in Wallpaper* magazine, with photography by Bosnic+Dorotic.
