Cup of Joy Opens First London Café in Marylebone with EBBA Architects Design

Turkish coffee and bakery brand Cup of Joy has opened its first international location in London's Marylebone neighborhood, at 28 Blandford Street. Founded in Istanbul's Bebek district in 2013, the company now operates eight cafés across Turkey. The London site spans two floors and features an interior designed by EBBA Architects, led by Benni Allan. Allan traveled across Istanbul to study the city's stone walls, recessed openings, and shaded courtyards, which informed the design. The interior uses clay plaster on the ground floor and stairwell, with Portland stone fragments on walls, oak-lined recesses for seating and displays, and an oak bar set diagonally. Timber and opaque glass panels on the ceiling create ambient lighting, while woodblock flooring and a terracotta-concrete staircase connect the levels. The menu includes coffee made from sustainably sourced Arabica beans from El Salvador, Brazil, and Colombia, served in ceramic cups by co-founder Gökçe Kalyoncu, and dishes like Eggs Istanbul with Aleppo pepper butter and Baba Au Tea. The café is located opposite Jikoni restaurant.
