Crystal Bridges Expansion Opens June 6 with Inclusive American Art Narrative

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas, opens a 114,000-square-foot expansion designed by Moshe Safdie on June 6, 2026. The addition increases exhibition space by 50% and rethinks the museum's founding mission of accessibility. Board chair Olivia Walton emphasizes a responsibility to present a fuller, more accurate American story. The expansion is anchored by Jeffrey Gibson's beaded sculpture 'The Enforcer' (2025), originally at the 2024 Venice Biennale's American Pavilion, which references Reconstruction-era Enforcement Acts.
