“Croire aux fauves” : Nastassja Martin’s bear encounter adapted for the stage at La Scala Paris
In August 2015, anthropologist Nastassja Martin survived a face-to-face confrontation with a bear in the mountains of Siberia. That violent encounter, which she described as an implosion, became the basis of her book “Croire aux fauves”. Now a theatrical adaptation of the book is being presented at La Scala Paris. The production is a rare stage experience, described as visceral, luminous and necessary, featuring an immersive sound design that transports the audience to Kamchatka. Actresses Constance Dollé, winner of the 2019 Molière award for best solo performance, and Sandrine Raynal have adapted the anthropologist’s experience, intertwining it with their own questions as performers. Together with Camille Grandville and Miglen Mirtchev, they offer a narrative that asks whether one can become another, how that transformation occurs, and what unsuspected forces reside within us. The performance aims to awaken what lies dormant inside us. It is a partner event of Club Artistik Rezo. The source is a press release.
