Creative Immersions France-Mexico 2026 Opens Gardens of Luis Barragán's Casa Ortega

exhibition · 2026-10-14

During Design Week Mexico 2026, the exhibition Creative Immersions France-Mexico 2026 was presented by studio 2x1 at Casa Ortega, a structure crafted by Luis Barragán between 1942 and 1947. More than 30 designers from both France and Mexico displayed an array of items, including furniture, bags, and vessels. Collaborating with New Fibers, 2x1 produced deep red plinths using recycled materials. Notable pieces featured in the exhibition include a stool by Fanny Serouart, vessels from Matali Crasset, and a yellow metal chair designed by Hall Haus and Neko Design. This exhibition, which celebrates 200 years of cultural exchange, is the result of three years of residencies funded by the French Embassy in Mexico and runs from October 5 to 25, with photography by Juan Hernandez.
