Cosima von Bonin's Plush Creatures Inspire Loewe's Whisker Bag

Loewe's creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have unveiled their second collection, featuring a collaboration with German artist Cosima von Bonin. The collection debuted on the runway in Paris in March, where von Bonin's signature plush creatures appeared as charms and accessories. The standout piece is the Whisker bag, crafted from glazed calfskin with a floppy zipper and long tassels that mimic ears and whiskers. The bag's slouched body is covered in a plaid inspired by von Bonin, executed in Loewe's signature leather intarsia technique, leading up to a structured top and strap. Von Bonin's playful sculptures, such as a pig with a holographic backpack and a shark swallowing a gingham rocket, were the inspiration for the collaboration, which McCollough and Hernandez described as a perfect match for their vision. The Whisker bag is described as hypoallergenic, travels for free, and lives forever, emphasizing its whimsical and enduring appeal.
