Corraini Edizioni's Un Sedicesimo Featured at SVA Exhibition and NY Art Book Fair

Corraini Edizioni, the family-run publisher established in Mantua, Italy, in 1975, is the subject of an interactive exhibition at the SVA Flatiron Gallery and Project Space in New York. Titled Building Books. Corraini Edizioni: Children, Art, Design and Everything Else, the show runs through Sept. 28 and is presented with SVA's MFA Illustration as Visual Essay department. It features a wide selection of the publisher's art and children's books, along with a dedicated wall displaying issues of Un Sedicesimo, a quarterly publication edited by Pietro Corraini, the company's creative director and curator based in Milan. In printing terminology, a sedicesimo is a 16-page signature, but for Corraini the format serves as a blank canvas: each issue invites a different artist to conceive a 16-page project as a "gallery on paper," with complete freedom over subject and design. Un Sedicesimo and other ink-on-paper projects will be available for purchase during Printed Matter's NY Art Book Fair, held Sept. 24–27 at MoMA PS1 in Brooklyn, at Booth D3. The exhibition and fair appearances highlight Corraini's ongoing role in promoting contemporary art and design through accessible, experimental publishing.
