Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre by hcma, Dub Architects, and FaulknerBrowns

architecture-design · 2026-09-09

Scheduled to open in 2026, the Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre in Edmonton is a collaborative effort between hcma architecture + design, Dub Architects, and velodrome specialists FaulknerBrowns Architects. Spanning 177,605 square feet, this facility merges a community recreation center with a high-performance sports training area. Notably, its cycling track is situated a full floor above ground and encircled by a running track, allowing for diverse community spaces beneath and around it. A standout aspect is the clear sightline from the urban court on the ground floor to the cycling track, promoting visibility of high-speed cycling and encouraging future athletes. The project team includes Clark Builders, Fast+Epp, Williams Engineering, WSP, PFS Studio, and Resource Planning Group Inc. Key design contributors are Darryl Condon, Michael Henderson, Paul Fast, Michael Dub, Bobby Harris, Gene Dub, Michael Hall, Sherief El-Salamani, and Paul Rigby. Curated by Susanna Moreira and photographed by Nic Lehoux, the facility falls under the categories of sports architecture, recreation, and training.
