Copenhagen's Nordhavn Harbor Transforms into Sustainable Urban Laboratory

Copenhagen's Nordhavn district, located 4 km from the city center, began its transformation from an industrial harbor into a sustainable urban model in 2008. Eighteen years later, the area features independent districts, small islands, and canals designed by major architectural firms including COBE and BIG. The project redefines urban living by repurposing warehouses and docks into a living laboratory of sustainability, integrating social, economic, and environmental considerations that were considered visionary at the project's inception.
