Controversial Victor Quiñonez Exhibition to Reopen at UC Santa Cruz

Victor “MARKA27” Quiñonez's exhibition, Ni de aquí, ni de allá, which was initially set to take place at the University of North Texas (UNT) but was canceled, is now scheduled to debut at the Institute of the Arts and Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) on October 2, 2026, lasting until March 7, 2027. This exhibition features a botanica-themed installation along with pieces from his I.C.E. Scream series, which explore themes of incarceration and immigration. Originally curated by Boston University Art Galleries, it faced closure at UNT's College of Visual Art & Design just nine days after its February 2026 opening, leading to protests. The UCSC event is a collaboration with the Center for Art and Advocacy, and Quiñonez aims to showcase it in New York as well.
