CONCAV Book by Imto Deschini Fuses Brazilian Quartzite and Steel into a Magnetic Bookend Luminaire
The inaugural release from the CONCAV collection, titled the CONCAV Book, is a unique creation that functions as both a bookend and a light fixture. Designed by Ignacio Martínez Todeschini and Ignacio Noel at the Imto Deschini studio in Argentina, this piece merges a curved, hollow Brazilian quartzite section with galvanized steel. The quartzite is crafted using CNC milling and hand-finishing techniques, allowing the light source to be integrated within the stone, resulting in a backlit linear feature that contrasts with the stone's density. The design includes a fixed L-shaped steel base for support and a movable C-shaped component. Hidden magnets manage the internal circuitry, activating the light when connected and deactivating it when apart. This magnetic feature allows for customizable arrangements based on book volume. The entire CONCAV collection delves into geometric shapes and lighting with Brazilian quartzite and galvanized steel. Photography credits go to ANNLAB I PRODUCTORA, and the project was submitted via designboom's DIY feature, edited by Christina Vergopoulou.
