CommissionIt Launches Group Funds for Shared Art Commissions

CommissionIt, a UK-based platform connecting clients with artists, has introduced Group Funds, a service enabling friends, family, wedding guests, and colleagues to collectively finance original artworks or bespoke commissions. The platform manages the entire process, from collecting contributions to commissioning artists and overseeing production. Users can create a project, invite participants via a private link, and contribute without needing an account. CommissionIt handles payments, develops creative briefs, recommends artists from a network of over 1,000 makers, and manages approvals and delivery. Group Funds can be used for various commissions, including portraits, sculptures, furniture, jewelry, textiles, ceramics, murals, and memorials. The Wedding Legacy Fund, a specific application, allows wedding guests to pool funds for a lasting gift, such as a portrait from wedding photographs or an artwork inspired by the venue. Funds cannot be withdrawn as cash; they are strictly for creative projects. If the target is not reached, options include extending the deadline or adjusting the scope. Production begins only after the fund closes and the brief is approved. CommissionIt aims to simplify the process of creating meaningful, collaborative art projects.
