Collezione Farnesina Marks 25 Years With Global Tour Ending in Tokyo

exhibition · 2026-09-04

The Collezione Farnesina of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs marks its 25th anniversary with the traveling exhibition Identità Oltre Confine, overseen by curator Benedetta Carpi De Resmini. Following its previous locations in Berlin, Vilnius, Belgrade, Paris, and Malta, the exhibition arrives at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Tokyo, its sole venue outside of Europe, where it will be on display until 22 October. This exhibition delves into the relationship between humans and nature, showcasing pieces such as Under the Sun of Onomichi by Martina della Valle and Il Cedro dei Cieli by Maria Grazia Pontorno. Additionally, Tomaso Binga’s visual poems, inspired by haiku, adorn the Institute's exterior. The collection, which includes works by Maria Lai and Silvia Giambrone, tackles themes of body, identity, and language, with Carpi De Resmini referencing Lai's thoughts on connection.
