Collector Patrick Collins on Acquiring Yoko Ono's 'Sky TV' and Other Challenges

Patrick Collins, a 46-year-old head of a family investment office based in Dallas and New York, has built a notable art collection in a short time by persuading dealers and artists to sell him historically significant works. He acquired Yoko Ono's 'Sky TV' after extensive discussions with the artist and her studio, convincing them of his intentions. He also secured a major work from a young German gallery that initially wanted it for an institution only. Collins owns a nearly 10-foot-tall John McCracken column in his New York living room and a Sturtevant 'repetition' of a Warhol flower screenprint by his bedside. He admits his rookie mistake was buying too quickly early on, accepting less desirable works to prove his seriousness. Collins was featured in CULTURED's 2026 young collectors list.
