Collective Future: “Unos pocos buenos amigos” at CANTADORA, Rome

The exhibition titled “Unos pocos buenos amigos,” curated by Vasco Forconi, was inaugurated on May 13, 2026, at the CANTADORA gallery in Rome, showcasing the works of Colombian artists María Leguízamo and Gerson Vargas. This event explores the concept of community as a form of political strategy, reflecting on Colombia's history of violence. Vargas displays pencil drawings that highlight Comuna 16 in Medellín and the establishment of the Unión de Vivienda Popular committee in 1963, incorporating oral histories and accounts of self-organization. Leguízamo's blown-glass pieces, such as “Llama a la llama” (2026), feature stereo systems and a live phone for voice messages, capturing the urban soundscapes of Bogotá. The title is a nod to Luis Ospina’s film about Andrés Caicedo, and the opening was enlivened by a DJ set from Mira Vivian.
