Colita's photos of Spain's first LGTBI+ protest at PHotoESPAÑA 2026
The 29th international photography festival in Madrid is currently presenting "Colita. Nosaltres no tenim por, nosaltres som," an exhibition dedicated to the work of renowned photographer Isabel Steva, known as Colita. This showcase, running until August 22, 2026, is curated by Rafael Doctor Roncero and features her extensive documentation of the historic LGTBI+ protest in Barcelona on June 26, 1977. Organized by PHotoESPAÑA and the Centre Cultural-Llibreria Blanquerna, the display includes forty compelling images that reflect the spirit of the event. Colita, a key figure in photojournalism, began her career in 1964 and co-founded a prominent photographers’ association.
