CODOO STUDIO Designs Martha Tavern as a House Open to the Public in 190 m²
Completed in 2025, Martha Tavern is a 190 m² restaurant and bar interior by CODOO STUDIO, with Sergio Ortiz and Jose David Costa as lead architects. The project, curated by Valentina Díaz, was photographed by German Saiz and furnished with pieces from HAY, Kartell, and NEW FIDELITY. María Victoria Puerta rounded out the design team. The architects framed the concept as an inversion of the usual hospitality impulse: rather than making a bar resemble a home, they built a house and opened it to the public. The 190 m² footprint places the project in the restaurant and bar interiors category, a typology where domestic references are commonly deployed as atmosphere. Here the domestic is treated as the starting structure rather than a decorative layer. Documentation of the project was published by ArchDaily, which also carries a Spanish-language version of the original text.
