Codoo Studio Designs Martha, a Contemporary Tavern in Madrid's Lavapiés

Codoo Studio has finalized Martha, a modern tavern and residence situated in Madrid's Lavapiés district, which fuses the warmth of Spanish taberna hospitality with the Argentine tradition of sobremesa. Located at Calle Miguel Servet 15, this 190-square-meter establishment is named in honor of the founders' grandmother and features cozy rooms. The primary bar area, known as 'La Barra', boasts a refurbished wooden counter, red Balmoral granite flooring, azulejos tiles, and a sleek stainless steel lighting fixture. The secondary space, 'Al Fondo', functions as a music lounge equipped with a DJ booth, vinyl records, and communal seating. Key design features include lacquered bathrooms, a pink marble fireplace, and a green marble floor, utilizing modern materials while steering clear of direct traditional tavern imitation.
